DEVCOM GVSC and DEVCOM C5ISR have collaborated to develop and demonstrate the system hardware and communications for fast-forming, efficient, and vehicle centric power networking – vehicle microgrids. 

Fast-forming – The system forming time between two Tactical Microgrid Standard MIL STD 3071 compliant vehicles is down to ~90 seconds and packing away the hardware and getting back on the move takes ~60 seconds. 

Efficient – Evaluation with Warfighters has shown a doubling of operational duration where two networked vehicles provided power to three command posts for three days without resupply.  Networking hybrid platforms can provide a 4x increase in operational duration of static operations.

Vehicle Centric – The on-board power capability eliminates the need for towed generators which frees pintles and improves mobility.

Labor Saving – Filling fuel tanks on networked vehicles (~ every 3 days) eliminates the need for Gerry-can filling of generators every five hours.

Set-up time Savings – Stop.  Pull the cables.  Plug in your platforms to each other.  Plug in to your off-board systems (if any).  System self-forms and manages.  System status is reported on an easy-to-use dashboard.  NO GROUND RODS to pound into the ground.
